I
was a physician in a general hospital in Beijing before coming to Canada.
My
husband Jim and I met Dr. Branigan from Whitehorse in China and he invited us
to come here and practice Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in his clinic.
We
worked at the Branigan Clinic for three years from 1991-1994. During that
time we were taught English as well as given an overview of Western and First
Nation cultures, lifestyles, and way of thinking. We were also given a good
overview of common health issues in the North. Because of the people we met
during this period, we have developed a deep love of the North.
In
Oct. 2005, I was also granted my Canadian Medical License, after successfully
meeting the requirements for the foreign trained doctors program through the
University of Calgary. I now practice family medicine at Whitehorse Medical
Clinic in the morning and Chinese Medicine at the East & West Health Center
Ltd in the afternoon. I enjoy both practices and the variety of health care
options that I provide to my community.
